Hair Maintenance

Please refer to the following information on how to maintain your hair. This guide is applicable to all our Human Hair Extensions and Wigs.

MAINTAINING THE HAIR:

1)    Keep the Hair Moist: always ensure that the hair is not left dry by oiling and washing the extension or wig regularly and keeping the hair moist generally.

i)    Oiling the Hair: You will need a hair serum to keep the hair moist to prevent dryness. Do not use any too greasy hair products. We recommend John Frieda Hair Serum because it has a very light texture and is not heavy when applied on the hair. So, your hair

ii)   For a cheaper option, you can use extra virgin olive oil. You will find out that it really helps keep the hair moist for longer than the Hair serum. It only works naturally and saves you a lot of money in the long run. You only need a small amount of oil and you are ready to go. Available in Boots, Asda or any Afro-Caribbean Shop.

2)    Washing the Hair: You will need to wash both the extensions and wigs regularly to keep the hair moist and clean. Wash the hair once a week or at least twice a month.

DIRECTION:

For Extensions:

  • To wash your extension/s, you will need a bowl, water, Mild Shampoo, Conditional and a comb.
  • Pour some amount of water in the bowl. Enough water to cover the hair.
  • Add your shampoo and wash the hair gently. Do not rub or squeeze the hair, gently wash through.
  • Rinse the shampoo out of the hair with clean water and
  • Apply generous amount of conditioner to the hair. The conditioner helps keeps the moist and maintain the texture.
  • Do not comb the hair while wet. Combing the hair while wet can cause the hair to shred.
  • Allow the hair to rest in the conditioner for 20-30 minutes. You can cover the hair so the conditional steam through the hair.
  • Finally rinse the hair and leave up to dry naturally. Avoid using directly heat on the hair. If you have to dry the hair with a blow dryer, please use the lowest heat possible. Remember to keep a distance between the extension and blow dryer so that the heat does not go directly into the hair.
  • You can comb the hair when it is completely dry. But, hold the root of the hair as you comb through. Do not forget that the hair has only been installed into weft and not on your scalp. So, apply proper care when combing to avoid breakage or shredding.
  • Always comb from the bottom of the hair and walk your way through to the top. This way you would not pull out the hair from the weft. Also, it would help detangle any tangled hair.

For Wigs:

  • To wash your wig/s, you will also need a bowl, water, mild Shampoo, Conditional and a comb.
  • Pour some amount of water in the bowl. Enough water to cover the hair.
  • Do not wash the wig from the top, always wash from the inside (the reverse side). Doing this would keep all the hair together and therefore, prevent any hair from coming out of the lace
  • Add your shampoo and wash the hair gently. Do not squeeze the wig as you wash through.
  • Rinse the shampoo out of the wig with clean water and
  • Apply generous amount of conditioner to the hair. The conditioner helps keeps the moist, maintain the texture and prevent dryness.
Avoid using direct heat on the hair. If you have to dry the hair with a blow dryer, please use the lowest heat possible. Remember to keep a distance between the wig and blow dryer so that the heat does not go directly into the hair.
  • You can comb the hair when it is completely dry. But, hold the root of the hair as you comb through. Do not forget that the hair has only been installed on the lace and not on your scalp. So, apply proper care when combing to avoid breakage or shredding.
  • Always comb from the bottom of the hair and walk your way through to the top. This way you would not pull out the hair from the wig. Also, it would help detangle any tangled hair.
